Sometimes the most unexpected beauty is found in what was once overlooked.

Silver Lining features a striking piece of Sowbelly Agate Amethyst from the Last Chance Mine in Creede, Colorado — a stone dominated by soft, pale lavender amethyst with subtle layers of agate and hidden traces of native silver beneath the surface.

The softness of the amethyst gives this piece an almost calming presence, while the silver tucked within the stone adds depth and quiet contrast. It’s a reminder that even in life’s uncertain seasons, there can still be something valuable waiting to be found.

Like much of the material found at the Last Chance Mine, this stone was once considered “trash rock” by miners searching for silver over a century ago. What was once discarded now reveals its own kind of beauty.

— THE STORY —

I rockhounded this stone myself at the Last Chance Mine outside Creede, Colorado.

What drew me to this piece was its softness — the pale amethyst felt almost gentle, but the hidden silver within it told a deeper story. That contrast felt meaningful to me from the very beginning.

As I cut and polished the stone, more of that silver began to reveal itself beneath the lighter layers of amethyst, creating a quiet reminder that even in difficult or uncertain seasons, there is often beauty and value waiting underneath.

The name Silver Lining reflects that reminder: that even when life feels heavy, there is still something good waiting to be found.

• Pendant & setting: Handmade sterling silver

— THE MAKING —

I rockhounded, cut, shaped, and polished this stone before handmaking the sterling silver setting specifically around its natural shape and silver-bearing details in my studio.

Because each stone from the mine forms differently, no future Silver Lining pendant will ever look exactly the same. Every piece will carry its own unique balance of amethyst, silver markings, and natural formations.
