Meet the Jeweler
Welcome fellow jewelry enthusiasts! My name is Kaitlyn, and I'm thrilled to share with you my journey as a silver jeweler. Life has a way of leading us on many different paths. I've always had a passion for all things art and crafts. When I was younger, I was always drawing, airbrush painting, working with clay, and many more. However, when it came time to decide what careerpath to take, I knew I didn't want to have to rely on my art to make a living. I felt this would take away from the creativity. I went in another direction opting to work on my art on my own spare time. While in college 11 years ago, majoring in a different field altogether, I discovered my love for silversmithing. I took a metalsmithing elective course where my first assignment was to use silver, copper, and bronze. I decided to make a belt buckle. Let me tell you... there was a learning curve! But, I absolutely loved it! From there I went on to make a lost wax-casting paper weight, a ring, and necklace pendants. My grandfather saw my enthusiasm and bought me a jeweler's apprentice kit. However, as graduation came around and I enrolled in grad school, my academic commitments took center stage, and my newfound passion took a backseat. I continued to dabble in jewelry making, but the demands of life and career aspirations often pulled me in different directions. Years passed and, while I built a successful career, I set up a jewelry studio in one of my spare bedrooms working on jewelry when I could. Every time I returned to the studio, the passion I had for jewelry making grew. I loved learning and working on new silversmithing techniques. Today, I continue to straddle both worlds, working in computing during the day and immersing myself in my passion of jewelry making during my free hours. My studio has expanded to a she-shed I constructed in my back yard. While I haven't followed a linear path, I have learned that life's journey is an ever-evolving story full of experiences and passions. I've found my passion in jewelry making, and I am excited to share my creations with you bringing to life a memory, a thought, or a special moment through the jewelry I design and create.
