Sowbelly Agate Amethyst · Sterling Silver · One of a Kind
— THE PIECE —
Some discoveries change the direction you're headed.
Miner's Path is a sculptural cuff bracelet inspired by the branching paths of exploration — the winding search for something valuable hidden beneath the surface.
The stones in this piece are Sowbelly Agate Amethyst from the Last Chance Mine in Creede, Colorado, a highly localized material once discarded as "trash rock" by miners searching for silver over a century ago.
These particular stones are heavily amethyst-forward, with soft lavender tones and natural crystalline complexity framed in geometric diamond-like forms. The irony of shaping these stones into diamond silhouettes felt fitting — transforming overlooked material into something striking and worthy of attention.
Like much of the material found at the Last Chance Mine, Sowbelly Agate Amethyst can contain traces of native silver preserved within the stone itself — a reminder of the silver deposits that originally made the mine valuable.
— THE STORY —
I rockhounded these stones myself at the Last Chance Mine outside Creede, Colorado.
What drew me to them was the contrast between their raw geological complexity and the clean geometric shapes they eventually became. The soft amethyst formations almost appear cloud-like against the stone, while the angular forms give the piece a stronger architectural presence.
As I worked on the bracelet, the open split design began to feel like diverging paths — movement, exploration, and the idea that discovery rarely follows a straight line.
The name Miner's Path reflects that journey of searching, uncovering, and finding meaning in places others once overlooked.

— THE MAKING —
I rockhounded, cut, shaped, and polished these stones before handmaking the sterling silver cuff specifically around their geometric forms in my studio.
Because each stone from the mine forms differently, no future Miner's Path cuff will ever look exactly the same. Every piece will carry its own patterns, silver markings, and natural formations.
